For established businesses that need a lawyer on call rather than on payroll.

$1,995 per month, plus GST and QST · $2,293.75 all in $5,985 over three months
Regular access to a lawyer, without hiring in-house counsel.

How these work

We would rather answer these questions here than halfway through your file.

If you reach the hours

We will tell you before you get there, not after. Nothing beyond your included hours is billed without your written approval first.

If you want us to continue, further work is billed at our standard hourly rate, which we confirm in writing before you sign. Alternatively you can move up to a larger program and we credit what you have already paid.

What you're buying

You are buying a defined piece of work at a fixed price, not a block of hours to spend. The hour cap exists so the price can stay fixed, and so neither of us ends up renegotiating halfway through.

Hours are tied to their period and don't carry forward. You're paying for availability as much as for time, in the same way an in-house lawyer's salary doesn't shrink in a quiet month.

What isn't included

  • Court appearances and litigation, which we quote separately
  • Disbursements: filing fees, registry and publication costs, bailiff and court fees
  • Notary fees, which are billed by the notary directly
  • Trademark and other intellectual property filings
  • Translation and certified translation
  • Work requiring substantive legal research or a formal written opinion
  • Matters governed by the law of another province or country

If your situation calls for any of these, we will tell you and quote it before starting.

Payment and engagement

Every program starts with a written engagement letter setting out the scope, the fee, and our hourly rate for anything beyond it. You will know the terms before you pay.

Fees paid in advance are held in our trust account and drawn down as the work is performed, in accordance with our professional obligations.

All prices are in Canadian dollars. GST and QST apply.

Bilingual throughout

Every program runs in English or French, your choice. Rita Menneh also works in Spanish, Hebrew and Arabic.
